How to navigate the Affordable Care Act (ACA):

Is it right for you?

You may want to consider applying for ACA coverage if you do not qualify for Medicaid and do not have health insurance through employment.

OPEN ENROLLMENT DEADLINES: GENERALLY 12/15 EACH YEAR

Sign up for reminders near the deadline by visiting the link and providing an email or phone number under “GET IMPORTANT NEWS & UPDATES” near the bottom of the page.

Even if you missed this year’s enrollment period, you may be eligible for the Special Enrollment Period. Visit here to see if you qualify. You will qualify if you’ve experienced a ‘life changing event’ such as losing a job or experienced changes in your household.

How the Affordable Care Act works

The government currently offers a public insurance option that any U.S. citizen is eligible to use if a private option is not attractive or available. This is not Medicaid.

The monthly premium you will be expected to pay is determined by your income. The government subsidizes costs to ensure that you only pay what you are able. People with higher incomes pay higher premiums, and people with lower salaries pay lower premiums. Everyone receives the same coverage regardless.

Visit here to see how much the government estimates your premiums will cost.
