• While this medication is used to control heart disease, doctors may prescribe these as a short-term treatment for anxiety by reducing heart rate and blood pressure by blocking the effects of epinephrine.

Benzodiazepines

• This medication works as a short term treatment for anxiety and are generally used as a second option treatment for panic disorders and social anxiety.
